My dad was recently diagnosed with cancer of the bile duct. He is 56 years old, and his prognosis is very, very poor. He went to the doctor because he thought he had a kidney stone, and the doctor sent him straight to the hospital. He was very jaundiced, the white part of his eyes were even yellow. The doctor scheduled an ercp, because they thought he had gall stones. It turned out to be much worse. The doctor gave us the devastating news that it was adnocarcinoma, and it had spread to his lymph nodes. The oncoligist put him on a type of chemo called Gymzar, but told us that it would only buy him at best a few months. Is anyone else heard of this?

Read what I wrote to the other thread re: intrhepatic cancer. 56 is also way to young to put on chemo and say sorry nothing more we can do. Has it spead to all the lymp nodes or just the ones aroung the liver? What stage is the cancer? Is he normally healthy? Did you go to one of the major hospitals in your area that have top oncologist that specialize in this area. We are close to UCLA so we went there. Search the internet on treatments for bile duct cancer on google and you should come up with some options. It is bad to have that is for sure but to just give up is not right. We are looking into a hospital that deals only with liver/bile duct/gallbladder cancer in Minnisota9(sp?) We are in California and we will fly there if we have to. Anything to get my mother through this. Read my thread titled My Mother Just Diagnosed W/ Liver Cancer.

My friend is 43 and they believe she has bile duct cancer. She will be having more testing soon to determine the exact location of the primary site. She already knows she has a metastatic lymph node in her liver along with a very large 6cm tumor on her liver along with some other smaller ones. She lives in Denver. They thought she had a problem with her gallbladder because of her symptoms but that was ruled out quickly once she had a Ct scan of her abdomen and pelvis. She does have quite a bit of pain and nausea at this point. I am really concerned about her.
