:bouncing: I can't seem to lose weight because I eat all the time and in huge quantities. I don't think this is emotional eating, rather I think it is because I am chemically imbalanced. I've been on certain medications before and not felt like eating at all. Unfortunately, I can't seem to control my eating habits no matter how badly I want to lose weight. Suggestions, anywone???

I think suzi has some good advice there. You could also talk to your doctor about it, cuz it might be due your meds and for some of them (I'm thinking of Zyprexa) they now have alternative formulas that are supposed to help with that "I always want to eat" feeling. Maybe there's something they can also do medically.
Best wishes!

Samalexandra,
I saw an advertisement yesterday for a new drug that is being tested for binge/compulsive eating. If you have a major university near you that has a teaching hospital that runs clinical trials, perhaps they are doing the study there too. It's being run through the psychiatry department here at the university I work at.
Good luck!

Samalexandra,
I forgot to mention that some BP medications will actually make you crave sweets and other foods. Zyprexa does that to me. I crave carbs badly! Are you on any type of BP medication? If so, which kind?

samalexandra,
There are a few things that struck me about your post. First, you recognize that you're putting on weight (or failing to lose it at any rate), and you recognize the cause: excessive eating. If you can identify unhealthy actions, then you can make an effort to curb these actions.
I've been there, so I might be able to offer some advice if you could give a little more information. As Polaris said, if you could post what meds you're on, it would be a big help with identifying the cause(s). Also, it is important to make the distinction between overeating and binge eating. Finally, are you just trying to lose weight, or are you gaining it, and if so, how significant is the gain?
Certainly, regardless of these answers, you should talk to your (prescribing) doctor about the issue. Whether it's an emotional, medication, or dietary problem, your doc will be able to give you the best advice. If it ends up being a medication issue, I would personally try to keep any medication regimine as simple as possible, because this will help with any future medication changes as well as compliance.
I've had problems in the past with both binge eating and overeating, and one of the best suggestions I can offer is to try to get on a regular dietary schedule. I hope you're able to take something from this. Good luck.
