Today I realized something..not too long before my last flare up I had hives/rashes on my wrists, ankles, and scattered patches throughout my body. I'd wake up with them, and i'd use Cutivate cream and they'd go away...then come back the next day. Then came the asthma flare up. I thought it was b/c I had gone 2 a club one nite and came down with a cold afterwards(had to wait outside for an hour 2 get in, in 5 degree weather). Maybe it was a combination of both..but I noticed now my asthma is better, and the hives and rashes have stopped. I've heard of some people getting a scratch before their asthma flares..anyone else have something similar happen before they flare??

Hasn't happened to me really - only once, got stung by a bee, broke out into hives then not long after had an asthma exacerbation - ended up on pred at the time. Anyway, is it possible your being exposed to something your allergic to? Hence the hives/rush you experience. Maybe ask your doctor about taking clarinase (sp?) or benadryl?? Just a thought - always best to check w/your doctor. Take care.
If you are an allergic person, hives may be a manifestation of allergies. On top of that, after you've been exposed to an allergy you manifest that exposure (hives) and then if you're asthmatic, eight or so hours later, you can have trouble breathing.

Actually, this only started happening to me in the last year. Neck and lower face would get bright red, like a rash, 12-24 hours before an episode. can't explain it.
