does anyone know if it's safe to take effexor and xanax. 75mg effexor; .5mg xanax. effexor for depression and xanax for anxiety. usually it's only 1/2 the .5mg xanax. and sometimes just to help me sleep, but i'm not sure if i should mix the two. any help would be great. thanks :)

Pixiedust-
There shouldn't be a problem taking these two drugs concomitantly.

Under steady-state conditions, Xanax does not appear to affect the pharmacokinetics of Effexor in healthy people. Or vice versa.

Obviously, if you feel any untoward side effects, such as dizziness, or excess fatigue etc, which either of these two drugs can cause alone, tell your doc.
But again, in the pharmaceutical literature and monographs, there appears to be no drug-to-drug interactions here.

I take 150mg of effexor and take 2 .05 tablets of xanix 2x a day. So I am sure you will be fine.
