i'm just wondering what the longest outbreak you've had is ?
i'm on valtrex and it still isn't going away...i'm getting impatient...
i've already got a problem with the libido from hell, and this outbreak just isn't going away...it's geting really frustrating and i'm stressing out...

my girlfriend just broke out again after being on the verge of being over her outbreak...and that's freakin me out....

course i've heard that the first outbreak is usually the longest as well...

anyone care to comment, or throw in thier outbreak horror stories ?

p.s. i've finished the entire bottle of the valtrex prescription and while it's gotten better it should be gone by now, i would think..i'm wondering if i should get a refill or maybe 1g twice a day instead of 500mg twice a day

How long has it been out of curiousity? I am going through my first OB, if H is what I have though...

I've never tried Valtrex, but I know that it works differently for everyone.
I would say that the first thing that you should try to do (although it's tough) is stop stressing about it. Don't worry about not being able to have sex (I know it's not always easy!) and just relax and let your body figure out what's going on. Also, make sure that you're taking extra good care of yourself. Sleep 8 hours, don't eat any of the classic H-unfriendly foods (chocolate, nuts, caffeine, sugar, alcohol). It's not that you'll never get to have these things, but it takes a little while for your body to figure out what's going on with Herpes. Eat lots of veggies and drink lots of water. Try some of the suppliments mentioned throughout this board and have faith that they are going to work and that your body will fight off the OB, because IT WILL.
My OBs seem to last anywhere from 2 to 10 days from start to finish, but then i've had it for a few years now. I'm sorry that you and your girlfriend are having a hard time with it, it does get better. I'm glad that you have each other for support and understanding. Good luck.

this is my first outbreak and it's now going on 12 days today
unfortunetly i suffer from the libido from hell and as shallow as it sounds going without and not being able to go down on my girlfriend is seriously aggravating lol

i have been trying the supplements listed on the board like the lysine, multivitamins, echinachea, etc...anything to better my immune system.

i normally don't stress about it, but the whole thing with my GF getting worse and breaking out again and our relationship problems have only made the whole situation worse.

I was just in the late stages of recovering from kidney stone surgery when my girlfriend told me about this and within a day or so i started coming down with symptoms.

i guess i've been lucky with the bumps not hurting, i've heard most OB's can be very painful and for the most part is has cleared up a great deal except for a few large bumps that appeared after the other ones.

this whole thing has gotten me down because not a single partner i had before my current girlfriend has it. I felt it was the right thing to do to tell them and they were blood tested and came up negative. A part of me feels like if only i hadn't gotten involved in this relationship, ths wouldn't be happening. it's not like i was cheating or anything and ended up with it, theonly thing wrong i did was sleep with the woman i love. LOL now i almost wish i'd stayed with my X instead (i know kinda shallow huh?)

but thanks to the people on this board i just keep thinking the outbreak will go away and then I'll get back to feeling like my old self and the longer i go without a new outbreak the better i'll feel about things. Thank you to everyone who's read and replied to my threads. I don't think i'd be handling this as well as i am without ya'll and knowing i'm not alone in all this. :)

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your problem, I was just wondering what type of herpes you have?

I have HSv2 genitally, haven't had any blood tests done, but the doctor did a visual inspection. i'm thankful i don't have hsv1 orally(no offense to anyone) because then i'd really hate myself. It would really bother me and be a burden to my life if i felt like i couldn't go down on someone, it would always be in my mind that i might infect them. I think i lucked out from my understanding i have a very mild case, especially for a first outbreak. I only had like 6 bumps total.

So can someone who'd had outbreaks tell me the lonest one they've had ?

Were your lymph nodes in the groin affected ?

At the end of the outbreak did you itch like crazy even where the bumps weren't ?

I'm going back to the doctor, cause from what i've read on these boars and other places and from people who have H like i do, there isn't this many wierd and different symptoms and outbreaks that last this long. I'm taking my first refill for my first outbreak still.

i've got a red lump over my left lymph node in the groin that hurts when i touch it and i've had everything from muscle pains to back pains to feeling tired for no reason. Maybe i'm just not well informed but i didn't know where were so many symptoms toa simple h breakout.

Im going to see my doctor on friday and explain to him that Im going to hand him his balls if he doesnt sort this out...

Sorry you're going through this, sn--have yo healed by now (I'll probably come across your newest post later, but I'm going through in order) ? My longest were my two primaries (after several years I reinfected myself on the other side down there), about two weeks each. Sounds like your meds aren't doing any good--maybe it's time to try something else?

Thank for the reply B.P. your such a total sweetheart, your posts have helped me so much with this, and i thank you. yes my O.B. finally did clear up and i'm having fun and not stressing, i decided to do maintenance therapy with the Valtrex with like one pill a day. Yesterday was the first day i felt good and was lifting weights and had an appettite and everything, Life is so good when your NOT having an O.B. I'm doing more research on the asymptomatic shedding but i honestly think it's been over dramatized :)
Being careful and washing up after any actitivity of any kind has kept me from infecting myself anywhere else on my body. Happy Valentines and Presidents Day to everyone.
