just a quick question, in your opinions would it make any difference to wait a month or not to have the surgery done.today after we had decided to stay i get the call that the dr where we technically live accepted emily,so we have an appt for the 24th.im wondering if waiting a month or so would have any effect at all or not. In the grand scheme probably not since weve went almost 5 yrs with this problem going undetected. ive done the pro's and con's and neither jumps out as the winner on staying vs going. so what is ya'lls opinions ?

Hi...
In my opinion, a month will do your little one no damage at all. I haven't had my tethered cord operated on... and I'm still mobile and such.
Children are strong, and I have faith that this surgery will go well and greatly benefit your daughter.
Good luck to her!

Hi Tiffany --

I feel for you... These decisions are no fun! I would *guess* that the risks of anything happening within a month are small, but that they're probably higher for a growing child than for someone who's made it to adulthood (like me). Did you ask the doctor what he thought? And without going in to where you are / live... I'd also consider the relative quality of the hospitals / doctors. Are they pretty much the same in both places? That would probably be my biggest criteria. Good luck!

Thanks gals! The quality of the hospitals are the same as are the 2 nsgs. I have had 2 sets of drs tell me they would let the one in greenville operate on their child hands down. its too late to change our minds now lol were going back! i am excited to say the least. I just worry since emilys now growing after being stagnant for so long! oh well!
thanks again

Hi Tiffany --

That sounds great! What a wonderful endorsement! I think that you made the right decision, so don't worry... I can't imagine that Emily's going to grow a lot in the next month. :-) Best of luck to both of you!
