hey
I have had fibro/chronic fatigue syndrome for 13 months now! school wise do as much as you can, look into home tutoring thats available if possible. Friends may find it difficult to understand, but explain as much as poss to them and maybe give them some info on fibro to help them understand you. Expalin that yu might not always be there, or may sometimes just need someone to talk to and that you dont want to lose their friendship just cos of your illness! are you in UK or USA? Im in Uk and joined several charities who provide lots of support for young ppl in this situation.

lots of love
sam xx.

We have two daughters in our household that have been where you are now. The best advice I can give you is to get the help you need with your schooling. In the United States, your supplier of public education is required to make accommodations for your schooling according to your disability. FMS symptoms are disabling in the eyes of the law. You and your parents should seek accommodation under IDEA-Other Health Impared. Hopefully, you have a doctor that is actively listening to your situation and will aid you with medication, advice, and help with the school in obtaining the accommodation. As for friends, stay in touch as best you can. Of those friends that you have now, four years from now, there will be very few, even if you didn't have FMS. It is just that FMS makes it harder to make new friends. The making of friends requires energy. Most people with FMS have limited energy resources. My advice is don't make your social life the least of your priorities. Don't let others put your social life at the bottom of the list. The socialization part of education is just as important as Math at this point in your life.

Thank you all so much, the last three months have been really bad, i have to take 3 summer school classes because of this, my friends have been really understanding and do nothing but listen and give me hugs but they all knwo that they can't understnad what i'm going thourgh, i'm starting to get help at school, but a pretty big problem for me is that i can't take any medcine thats adictive, because theres a large problem with drug abuse on my dads side of the family, and its a last resort, the worst things of all is that sometimes i feel like no one believes how i feel and when they do, they think when i'm happy or hyper i'm feeling better, or then they start thinkgin i'm faking it, highschool is hard enough without being sick, thanks for listening to me whine or blab

- Happy to have support

feel exactly the same, i get many weird looks from teachers who see me laughing n having fun in lessons and ASSUME i am well, but thats ridiculous how can they understand? in my view you cant survive a long term illness if you dont just get on with it and make the most of it, why should i sit and be all depressed, when i CAN enjoy myself n be happy with my friends? my illness is a physical barrier not stopping me from being happy or normal! argh it is very annoying tho n is completely unecessary when we have enough to deal with! are you in US? im in england n there is special cards you can get for help at school and lots of support groups specially for young ppl with it!

im very sorry to hear about your bad day , i think maybe your parents should have a meeting with all your teachers and tell them how sick you really are, my mom actually had a meeting last year with my principal because i missed alot of school and they were gonna make me stay back, and it turned out my principals wife has fibromyalgia and he understood, my father is a teacher and hes very strict about me going to school, there were many times where i was crying because he was yelling at me because i was begging my mother to let me stay home, hes been alot better i think cause he knows im being home-schooled and stuff..... im sorry i keep blabbing on,, so please talk with your parents about having a meeting with your teachers or your principal to figure something out, im getting totured for free im sure you could too,, that was very wrong for your teacher to yell at you. its not your fault that your not feeling well, when people yell at us it only makes us feel worse, they act like they can yell away the fibro lol i wish they could :jester:
