I have read Many, Many posts here about (I believe mainly teens), unsure of who to tell etc.
When I was a teen and having all of my start up symptoms-it was completely the opposite situation for me.
My parents were the ones trying to convince me something was wrong and they wanted me to see a Psychologist to find out the problem. They had no idea what it was, they just knew something wasn't right at all. At the time though, I denied having any problems and whatever I was doing was okay. Unfortunately, I never did go to get any help until about 5-6 years later when things were completely out of control.
I have different symptoms now than back then. Then it was extreme escessive cleaning, showering and handwashing rituals.
Now, it is mainly obsessive worries of other people's germs-so I just avoid things. I am almost fine outside of the house, I can do most anything-work, play with my kids outside, go to friends homes, school functions, parties. Just, when I get home-Bam, everything gets washed. Clothes get changed, anything coming in gets washed. Not in a ritualized way luckily, I just obsess over what if something touched something else in the house.
Anyways, I was wondering if maybe some of the parents really might have a sense of some kind of trouble their teens might be having although they may not realize the cause being all those obsessions and anxiety. It is a hard thing to hide.

Well, I'm sorry I can't help much. My advice is they will probably find out sooner or later, so just get it over with. I've never really faced this dilemma, as I was diagnosed with OCD around age 6 or 8, can't remember.
