I am wondering if I was having a "flare". I was in so much horrible pain for about two weeks or so, and now it's subsided quite a bit.
Things are still iffy about my test results- the naturopath I saw has not returned my phone calls (he's not getting any of my business, btw). My psychiatrist has said that some of the tests are coming, faxed to him, sporadically. Apparently not all of the results are ready. He did say, however, that my c-reactive protein level was elevated. Because of all my symptoms, I'm going to see a rheumatologist to get a proper fibromyalgia test (I am certain that the naturopath didn't know what he was doing!)
Anyway, onward! :)

You might have been going thru a flare up.From what I understand, they havent told you , you have fibro yet am i correct?? It took them a very long time to give me the answer too, so please be patient. I think so many doctors still don't believe in fibro.
Hang in there. Im going thru a flare up at this very minute too, started slowly and its building up rapidly. I have an appt to get a massage in an hour but i know it wont be the kind of deep massage id like to take the pain away. I can barely be touched. At least it will give me some releif if she works on some T points for a bit.
Take care

thanks for the reply, jen. :)
i hope that your flare isn't too bad. i didn't know people with fibro could get massages- i too crave deep massage. i've only been to a couple of people that can give the deep massage that i like.
take care.

My rheumatologist told me yesterday that I should see a psychiatrist? Why is that? He said my antidepressants should probably be changed since I am having such a hard time with my fibro? Do any of you go to a pyschiatrist?

Yes! I see a therapist now, cuz I just lost my mother to cancer, BUT, she also told me that she sees a lot of people with Fibro. Mostly women. There are even Fibro support groups. Check your hospital or ask your rhuemy. Also, DO NOT be afraid to question your rhuemy, go see a pain specialist. If your insurance covers physco therapy, try it out. I see both a phsyciatrist, cuz they can prescribe the meds, and the therapist just to talk. The phsyc can adjust your meds. You are probably taking a antidepressant for a seritonin reuptake, that is common for Fibro's. Usually, Effexor XR, or Paxil or whatever. It doesn't necessarily mean you are depressed. I was taking antidepressants for 3 years for the Fibro as a seritonin reuptake, but after I went thru all that I did with my mother's illness, I wanted to see a therapist. It turned out, that I had my meds changed, some of those antidepressants haves some kick butt side effects. The phsyc helped me change meds to a regular antidepressant, Wellbutrin XL. I have to caution you, some of the seritonin reuptake drugs, like Effexor have some pretty intense withdrawl. But, try the phsyc and see what he/says. If the Fibro is depressing you, which is very common, definately find a way to help you feel better. You have a lot of options out there. Always ASK! ASK! ASK!
Good luck

Thanks, tkgoodspirit! Oh, I take Wellbutrin XL and Effexor XR and the Rheumy put me on flexeril too. I am going tues to see a therapist. I don't have insurance, thats alot of my problem. My husband goes to a pain specialist and they are great. He has had alot of relief since going to them.
I am very sorry about your Mom. I lost both my parents about 3 years apart and it is hard.
My depression has mostly to do with my past still haunting me. I was in a very bad marriage for along time. So, I have alot of issues. Thanks for sending me the message.

Sounds a lot like a flare, especially if it subsided. Another thing to consider, at least in my case, is that season changes, stress increases, or illness can aggravate fibro even more.
Hope you feel better and you get the answers you need from the docs--hope seeing all of them isn't causing too much stress--I would say want from the docs, but then who really wants to hear they have fibro, or anything for that matter!
Wish you luck!
