I have IBS, GERD, Restless Legs Syndrome, and TMJ. I noticed a LOT of people here seem to have one or all of these. Is this common? Do they go along with Fibromyalgia?
Still not knowing if I'm in the right place or not...but hopefully I'll find out Friday.

Oh yes! :bouncing: I have the RLS, GERD, panic attacks, insulin resistance, IBS, can't swallow sometimes, the fibro fog, etc etc etc.... What kind of Dr. are you seeing? My rheumie just told me I should probably go to a psychiatrist because my symptoms are so bad. Do you go to one? Dr. just don't seem to understand this illness. They say they treat it, then they act like you are just lazy and whiny. I hate that!!
Good luck to you!

Thanks!
I just got formally diagnosed with fibro (by a rheumy), so now I know I'm in the right place. I get the difficulty swallowing too, and fibro fog (even though I didn't know what it was).
I was dx'ed with bipolar disorder 13 years ago, and with depression and severe anxiety years before that even (started when I was 13 essentially). I have seen a psychiatrist for 15 years (not the same one though, lol!). Basically I think my psychiatrist and therapist are going to have to re-think how they are treating me and accept that a lot of what I'm dealing with has been fibro (the fibro fog, for one- that has stumped them for awhile).
Good luck to you too!

Pookah, My son was recently diagnosed with Bipolar and I would have sworn he wasn't. I worked for some one once that was and my son was nothing like him. Sometimes I think thats alot of my problem. I was in a very abusive marriage for 26 yrs and it has just about drove me crazy, even though now I am far away from it and have a totally sweet caring husband now. Good luck to you.... yeah the fibro fog is a real blast. You feel like screaming when you can't come up with the words.

I'm so sorry that you were in an abusive marriage, but very happy for you that you have a wonderful husband now! :)
Yep, there are very big differences between some people with bipolar and others. Some are incredibly dysfunctional and hurtful, others stay depressed most of the time (like me), others are out spending $$$ on sports cars and gambling.
I'm just glad to know about fibro fog- now my psychiatrist and I might not be so fast to switch me off medications, because we think they are making me spacey. It might be my own brain!!!
Take care!

I have TMJ, GERD, panick attacks (mild) hypoglycemia attacks, and sleep problems.
Seems to be related. I am in what I call a remission, feeling pretty good for a change.

I've read that something like 60% of people with fibro also are hypoglycemic.
I have been diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia, adrenal insufficiency, asthma, food & environmental allergies including latex allergy, Dermamyositis, Raynaud's Syndrome, FMS, Sebborheic & Contact Dermatitis, scoliosis, hypothyroid, migraines and trouble falling asleep. Oh and am also going through perimenopause at 34 yrs old.

I have a lot of the same symptoms...Restless Leg Syndrome, TMJ, IBS, and carpal tunnel syndrome. It is common to have accomanying symptoms like such. Don't worry - you're not abnormal! ;)

Hi,
Hi again Pookah. We seem to be meeting in same topics. I too have many of the same disorders mentioned. There is a list somewhere in another section of this fibromyalgia board that lists all the disorders that commonly occur along with FM. They are many of the ones mentioned and seem to occur frequently in people with FM.
I also have: asthma, hypoglycemia, arthritis, gastritis, (occasionally: blepharitis, colitis, gingivitis, tendonitis), eczema, sinusitis, depression/anxiety disorder, frequent colds, dislocated C4-5, carpal tunnel, high blood pressure, forgetfullness, et al. There is a theory that FM, diabetes/hypoglycemia, asthma, like many of the itises, are all autoimmune disorders.
A doc i go to just told me that flax seed oil and seeds are excellent for reducing any kind of inflammatory process...so I'm going to try it. Cloie

hi cloie!
i have hypoglycemia, i am certain of it. i haven't had the formal testing for a long time though. but i get sweaty (clammy), shaky, dizzy, nauseated if i don't eat regularly, especially if i have sugar then don't eat.
let us know how the flax seed oil works out for you.
