View Full Version : Chills?

I have been noticing that sometimes I get the chills. I don't seem to have a fever with it - just that I feel cold. Could it just be the air conditioning? Or is there a correlation to the RA? Is having the chills a symptom of anemia? I don't think this is anything new - I have always been a "cold" person...well, not personality-wise..lol http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/round.gif

Just wondering as more and more questions keep coming up and I have several weeks before seeing the Doctor again!!

Allison,

I have read that anemia can cause chills and fevers. Fevers would indicate infection, so if you dont have a fever than thats good! I, too, get chills though. My fiance likes the apartment cold and I cant take it anymore. I end up all wrapped up in blankets by the end of the night! LOL! Today is 105 degrees here and yet when I went into the office, wearing shorts, I immediately got cold. Its like my temperature gauge is really sensitive to temperature changes. I wonder if its just part of RA. I feel like I have to dress for me instead of dressing for the weather.... and thats hard in Texas.

you might try making a list of things to ask your doctor since its so long til you go again. I go the end of September and will ask my rheumie too.

Hi!

When I first started taking sulfasalazine I kept getting these sudden chills more or less on a daily basis for months.

I also lost my appetite and lost weight which probably also added to getting chills as I've noticed that when I can't eat very much I tend to feel chilly more easily.

After about half a year the chills stopped, and I don't take sulfasalazine anymore. Now I only get the chills very rarely or if I've caught a flu.

I'm heading to Lapland, to the Arctic Circle for the winter though and it gets really freezing up there so I'm bound to get the chills every once in a while http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Among other things chills can be from thryoid problems. Have you had yours checked lately since they are not at all uncommon with RA. Good luck and may you be warm.
