Hi,
I've been on an antibiotic 3 times in the last couple months due to sinus infections. I've also had horrible sinus headaches daily that are mainly in my forehead area. Yesterday, I started having severe pressure on top of my head. I know that sinus headaches are usually felt in the face and forehead, but could the pressure on top of my head be caused by my sinuses?
Thanks:)

Yes, I had headaches mostly on the top of my head. This can be from infection in the Ethmoid or Sphenoid sinuses. I even had headaches behind my ears.
What kind of antibiotics were you on, and for how long?

Thanks for the reply.
I have been on Amoxicillin 875mg twice/day for 10 days. I am now on the 10th day and this is the 3rd time I have been on it in the last 2 1/2 months.
My dr. isn't in his office today, but I'm going to go in tomorrow to see if they will do a CT of my sinuses.

Ugh,
Amoxicillan is notoriously poor at treating bacterial sinusitis. I've read in some places that it fails 50% of the time to clear the infection.
Your doctor dropped the ball on this one.
The MINIMUM treatment is 14 days on either Avelox or Levaquin, with 4-5 days of Prednisone. The Prednisone combats the inflammation and allows the antibiotic to penetrate the sinus cavities.
My recommendation is, get the CT scan, and talk to an ENT. Most doctors think this is like treating a cold or something -we all know otherwise. I would estimate that you have an infection in your frontal sinuses.

Thanks so much for the info.
I haven't seen an ENT as of yet, but will definatly ask to be referred to one. I didn't know that amoxicillan was so ineffective against sinus infections. I'm a little relieved to know this-I was getting a little worried since I still have the infection after 3 rounds of antibiotics.
Thanks again,
hilery

Keep in mind, that I had virtually no change in symptoms until day 13 of taking Levaquin! 10 days would have been useless.
The other thing I can recommend in Guaifenesin, a powerful OTC decongestant. Get the non-drowsy formula. I had really good results with this.
