 I have my date set and have been cutting back. I have ordered SmokeAway and it should be here Monday. Just wondering if anyone else had had success with it? I am also going to use fake cigarettes when I quit.

I thought I would try some herbal cigs the rest of this week - thought they would be nasty enough I wouldn't want to smoke.

any tips??

Hey Tessa

If you really want to give up, I would say to do as little imitation smoking as possible .... give up means just that. If you start using fake ciggies, it's like mentally saying to yourself ... I wanna smoke. Just the act of picking up a herbal cigarette is dangerous IMO.

It'll be hard at first, but if you throw it all away .. after a few days, you will have broken the habit and be able to take it one step/day at a time.

Drink loads of water, do plenty of exercise and get some relaxation tapes.

Also, list down why you are giving up and all the disadvantages etc...

Hi Tessa and glad to hear you're quitting :)

Sounds like a good plan on the herbal cigs up til the time you quit, but not sure how I feel about the fake cigs. I think they might keep you in the habit of smoking ----- that's part of the whole ritual, but if you feel this is the best way for you - then you know you best. Thing is - make sure you keep your quit.

No sorry - never used smoke away. I quit cold turkey 77 days ago, but 2 months prior to that I used nicotrol and have tried other things in the previous years. I guess it all boils down to what you feel comfortable with. I liked the nicotrol in the beginning because it was puffin somethin, but I wasn't consistent with it so I was constantly puttin myself thru withdrawals so whatever you do please make sure you're consistent and don't let your good days fool you (e.g."oh I don't need to take my last few patches, pills or whatever because I feel FINE....TAKE THE PILL or whatever because it might be two hours from then and u have an attack).

Best suggestion I have is to go back and read all of the previous threads because they all relate to stopping smoking and have some great tips, info, etc... There's a great support group out here so welcome to the crowd. :)

Prayer works wonders as well :)

You could get one of those squeezy ball thing-a-majiggy that are filled with some type of gel, your supposed to squeeze it when you feel tense. That's better then chewing pen caps or straws :D
