Hello everyone,

Of those that have been following my "story," I plan to stop cheing tobacco on March 1st (Monday.) I will try to only use the patch, but if I find that I need to, I'll get my dr. to prescribe some Zyban. I'm already starting now to get myself mentally ready for what lies ahead. I plan on keep a rolling post on this board of how it affects me from day to day. (If that's OK?) Thanks for all the help and advice from you guys and I'm truely planning for this to be my final attempt.

Thanks so much,

David

Well, setting a quit date is so good David!!!

And I too prepared myself mentally for a couple of weeks prior to stopping, after all, smoking is more in the mind than in the body .... make sure you write all your lists .. think about the benefits and what giving up smoking means to YOU etc..

Also, think of different things to occupy yourself with in the first few weeks: new book, hobby etc. make sure you're only surrounded by people who are positive about you giving up ....

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can do it! :-)

Really concentrate on how you are feeling right now. What things taste like and what they smell like. That way when you quit, you will be better able to appreciate the difference.

Awesome Dave - you've done a great thing by setting your quit date and preparing yourself. I'm not worried about you - I know you can do it and I really think the patches will make you life easier with your other situation.

Don't forget to make a list NOW on all the reasons you feel so strongly for quitting and put them up around your house, in your car, at work, etc... and keep one in your pocket. Plus - putting up nasty pictures with half a jaw showing will always ensure success right. :)

Also your new habits (i.e., if you get stressed and before you'd dip - now you'll either pace around or pull on your lip LOL that's what I do now HA HA) - plan for your new habits and make them healthy ones. Don't wait until the stressful time goes to figure it out - give yourself plenty of options/suggestions now.

Very proud of ya Dave. :bouncing: Pray as well :)
