My husband has been told he needs all his upper teeth extracted. He went last week and had two removed, he has to have two removed every three weeks. What worries me is that the dentist hasn't even xrayed the teeth, isn't this usually done prior to extractions?

Just curious but why does he have to have then all pulled? What did the dentist say? I had all my uppers pulled about six weeks ago. They did x-rays and I took them to an oral surgeon who pulled them all while I was sedated. They then put in an immediate upper denture. Have you talked to your dentist about this option?

He's had problems with them for ages, crowns that kept breaking etc, toothache, dentist is going to take a couple out at a time because he had a heart attack a couple of years ago and is on lots of medication including aspirin, so he wants to see how quickly the gums will heal. I thought he would be sent to hospital to have them pulled but the dentist just started straight away.

Did you consider consulting an oral surgeon to have the teeth removed? I'm sure your regular dentist is very good but it seems to be alot to go through every three weeks, not to mention the pain. Hope everything comes out okay.

Thanks, I hope so too. Here in the UK you have to be referred to an oral surgeon through your dentist if he feels he cannot do the job, this is very rare unfortunately
