MICK
what kind of training are you talking about? i am sure exercise is good to some point but would be careful about too much to the point that you are in pain. i have lumbar arthritis too among other areas and i am unable to do anything more then gentle water exercises and slow walking. check with a physical therapist or your dr. first on how much you should be doing.

Hi Fibrose,

Thank you for the reply, I do mainly weight training. Iam 6ft and weigh 216(I would like to lose about 10 pnds tough)I also do cardio, the thing is that I would like to go back playing soccer which I have a passion for. I noticed you said that you have lumbar arthritis but bye the sounds of it, it is more advanced than mine. If go back to the soccer do you think that my condition could become a lot worse. I know you pirobably dont have the answers to these questions but any advice would be great.

Kind regards,
Michael

hi boys...
i also have T12,L1-L5 arthritis/arthrosis. mine seems to be from all the athletics i used to do. now i can only swim and do isometrics but my problem is in its advanced stage.
i worked with a physical therapist who was also a personal trainer for a couple of years and it helped a lot. lots of stretching exercises plus the swimming helps me.

best wishes.

Question..... my mom has suffered from back pain for several years now. 2 years ago she went through a whole slew of tests, x-rays, bloodwork, MRIs, etc and they found nothing wrong. However, knowing that RA could be Sero-Negative, it might be possible that she has lumbar arthritis. (I know she has a degenerative disk disorder in her neck.)

She says that when she lays down, she cant lay flat on her back or flat on her stomach, she always has to have her legs bent. She cant lay on the floor and prop herself up on her elbows, or she wont be able to get back up. She says she sometimes feels a burning and has to adjust her position when sitting or standing too long. She says that sometimes she feels like she cant sit up straight enough because when she slouches, it hurts.

Does any of this sound like lumbar arthritis to any of you who have it? I am urging her to see a rheumatologist, but in the meantime she's making an appointment with a chiropractor.

What do you all think? Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Thanks!

Meg

Hi meg,

It does sound like some symptoms I had and my answer was to exercise, however I am only 25 yrs old and try push myself. I would recomend some swimming as user said always stretch morning noon and night as it releases sress from the fatiged muscles.

Best of luck,
Mick.

your mom sounds like she has so many of the same symptoms as i do. i would urge her to see a rheumy. i am on a fairly good regime right now but i have flares so then need steroid injections to calm things down. i too only sleep on my side with knees bent to painful to sleep any other way. good luck, fibrose

Glucosamine has really helped my arthritis tremendously. I have arthritis in my neck, back and knees.
