Hi all,
I have this strange knee pain when I bend my knee or walk down steps. It is right on my knee cap towards the top. If I push on it it is really sore. When I bend it or go down the stairs it is like sore and stiff feeling. There is now aching or anything. I just wonder if it is arthritis or what. No swelling, as arthiritis does but I just can't figure it out.

Thank for the input.

SUre sounds like a touch of arthritis - kneecap - chondromalacia patellae.
Strengthening the QUADS may help - check with your doc & see about some physical therapy for a starter - conservative measures first

My Rheum. says mine is Osteo. where the wear and tear of my knees have it both in them. They creak like bones are together hurt badly when I walk up and down stairs. Sometimes I hurt so bad I can't straightem them out or bend them. Check with you Rheum. and see what he says and which way you should go with it.

Hi Christina--I've seen you post on the back boards--LOL. I read the comments from this post about your possibly having arthritis. I've had X-rays and I definately have osteo arthritis in my knees and a bundh of other places.

Glugosamine has been a GOD SEND for me!

Thank you so much, Christina! I just became a member of HealthBoards and have been suffering the exact same symptoms...except with my left knee. I keep putting off going to the dr...I'm too young to be feeling this old...but guess I'll bite the bullet and get it over with before this pain gets any worse.

Hi there,
It seems were not alone with the bonkcus & the conkcus in our bones. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/eek.gif But seriously, though you-all might find these statistics interesting.

Around 18 million Americans have low bone mass with another 10 million being diagnosed with osteoporosis. Of them appx. four out of five are women. About half of all women over age 50 suffer from this disease - many of them without knowing it. Arthritis is reported to affect about 70 million Americans with about 80% of people over 40 showing signs of arthritis. Reportedly less than 35% of women & children consume recommended amounts of bone nutrients. According to World Health Organization osteoporosis is one of the few diseases that is preventable.

It seems better to see a specialist sooner than later if you're having problems because it could be averted. Pick their brains and research as much as you can. Get all the details about the condition, find out ways to improve and prevent it from getting worst. Let me know if you need some references.

Hope this helps. Take care, Mari http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
