Hi Zuzu, since we are on the same drug, thought I would ask you when you take yours. I'm four days into the diovan (you were right, by the way, the bp is coming down--I'm a lot less anxious about it), and have been taking it at night. My stomach is bugging me some today, don't know if it would be prudent to take the drug with some food, or in the morning before breakfast. Have you had any stomach upset on this? Does it make a diff when you take it (night or morning)?
Thanks for you help

Hiramtraveler-
I'm an IBS sufferer, so my stomach never feels great anyway. But I haven't noticed any exacerbation with Diovan.
You might want to try it in the morning after breakfast on a "fullish" stomach....is that possible? Is your A.M. routine pretty um..er..routine??
Always best to take it about the same time every day whether morning or evening, and again, if your stomach is "off" (it may be the drug or simply a fluke) try it just after food.
See what happens.

hiram, like zuzu, I also take Diovan 80mg once in the morning after breakfast. Like zuzu, I'm also an IBS sufferer, so my stomach never feels well at all! I have not noticed any additional stomach discomfort since I started taking the drug however, and this could be one of those things that just disappears over time.
BTW, glad to hear that Diovan is doing a great job of managing those BP numbers! While it's a once a day drug capable of managing our BPs for 24 hours, I do find that sometimes, perhaps due to over-anxiety, my diastolic number creeps into the mid or high 80s at night before bedtime. My systolic numbers are fine however, between 112-120...strange
