Hello board readers,
My wife was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. She was sent to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston. We have heard that it is one of the best cancer hospitals in the world. We arrived there Thursday and we were both very intimidated by the size of this place. It was huge! We got in and got thru patient registry, very simple. Everything else went very easy and smooth. We were given a color coded map of the complex and never got lost. Everyone there was very nice and professional. She had several tests she needed and each department she went to was easily found with minimal waiting time. We even found a place for us to stay for a few days that catered to patients and their families that was very nice and only a few blocks from the hospital. They had a free 24 hour shuttle service to and from the front door and the room fee had a medical discount. Reason I am writing this is for any of you that is deciding where to go for your treatments, I would highly recommend MD Anderson. We had better luck getting around there than we do with our local hospital that is much smaller.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is terrible to be facing an uncertain future, anxiety levels high and possibly a lot of pain and discomfort being endured already, and then get lost too. The knowledge that at least people are there to help and comfort you goes a long way towards recovery whether or not the disease can be cured. Again, thank you for that information.

I do live in Houston and know that is one of the best to be for cancer. My sister work their for many years and I use to work at Methodist which is also a great hospital. You are all in good hands and so glad that they can offer such good services this is the best place to be. Good luck to you and your family and my prayers are with you and your family. I know how you must feel my mother was told last week that she has lymphoma not sure what stage and what kind of treatment she is going to have
will not know tile the end of the week when she gets the rest of her test results in will keep you posted.

Thanks Kay,
I have heard Methodist is a good place too, my mother went there back in the early 80's for a kidney stone removal with very good treatment. I am sorry to hear about your mother, I hope all will be well. I will keep you and your mother in my prayers as well.
