About 4 days ago I saw my doctor and told him I had been feeling really depressed latley so he upped my dosage of Zoloft from 100mg to 150mg daily. Ever since then I have fealt incredibly depressed and have had reacuring suicidal thoughts that will not go away. Do you think there is a connection to these two things.

You would think that more is better, but maybe more is worse. You would also think my doctor would mention something about this if it is common knowledge. Please help me, I dont know what to do.

Thank you

It would be worth calling his office to let him know what's going on. For a while people were talking about Prozac being linked to suicide, but I think that's been disproved. (Correct me if I'm wrong, guys!) Anyway, your worsening depression might mean Zoloft has pooped out and you need a med change. Or it could just need longer to kick in. Just don't suffer in silence. Let them know what you're going thru so they can help you.
Best wishes

You will not know if the new dose is working until after a few weeks (from four to six). In the meantime, keep in touch with him and let him know how you're feeling. Hopefully the new dose will work, but if it doesn't ask for a different med. Upping doses is a common practice but it is sometimes futile.

if you arebipolar, than you have to be extremely careful when taking things like zoloft and prozac. they can trigger manias andmajor depressions. i was mainc, then suidcidal while i was on prozac.

Like someone else said, if you are bi-polar be very careful with all SSRI's. I was undiagnosed and being treated for depression. I was taking Lexapro and when things kept going downhill I got my dosage doubled. That's when I REALLY went downhill and ended up hospitalized where they diagnosed me bi-polar and got me off SSRI's for good.

I would get back in with your doctor because although it does take awhile for those things to kick in, you shouldn't have to go through a suicidal period waiting for it to happen.

Good luck!

I would go do some reseach on something called "Seretonin Syndrome" you might be able to find some of your answers there. I don't have the time right now to explain what little I have read about it but look it up it might help. Good Luck and don't let anything get control of you, your the one with the final say in what happens stay strong.

Hi Mike

I am diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and borderline bi-polar. I am currently taking 150 mg. Zoloft, 1.5 mg. Xanax, and 150 mg. of Welbutrin. My doctor just upped my Zoloft. I have found that this is what I needed because my depression seemed to be getting worse. Everyone's body is different though. Please contact your doctor immediately if you are having suicidal thoughts. Whether its related to Zoloft or not, you need to let your doctor know ASAP!! Please!
