Hi everyone! It's the first day after surgery and I pretty much slept most of the day. I take my liquid demerol and 2 tylenol every 4 hours with water and an ice pop. I have an ice pack tied around my throat. I was able to eat a little bit of scrambled eggs (2 bites) this morning and some ramen chicken noodle soup. It feels weird swallowing. I looked in to my mouth and it is swollen back there. I guess once my tongue and uvula get back to normal I will not be able to swallow normally. It's hard to explain why it is different. My mouth fills up with slimey saliva. Hard to swallow and harder to spit out too.

It is still not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Definately worth it.

Hey baseballmom
Just a quick question before you eat do you take your pain meds a half an hour before you eat? Because I found it easier to eat (on days I could) If I had taken my meds 1/2 an hour before. Also does one side of your throat hurt worse because I know my left side always hurt more.

It hurts around the uvula. I expected it to hurt more on the sides of the throat but that little bugger is soooo big and purplish. I do take the meds 1/2 before I eat. But swallowing is not comfortable because I feel like I am swallowing my uvula. I had French toast this morning and it was helping to get the mash potatoe looking crap off. I don't know if I was having trouble swallowing the french toast or was it the white stuff. I had to blow my nose a little while later and this is so gross...I blew out some of that white crap. No bleeding that I can tell. My tongue is so swollen and sore from the surgery. It is bruised.
