I am getting ready to start taking Phenytek again which is the same thing as Dilantin---300 mg once a day. I was told that Omega 3 ---which is basically fish oils is very good for depression. I do not want to take Zoloft, Paxil etc.--they never worked for me--does anyone know if there are anykind of reactions with Phenytek and Omega 3.
Thanks!
Jen

I have not heard of one, BUT before you take any supplement it is always a good idea to ask the Pharmacist and your nuero! (yes, I ask both since sometimes the pharmacist is the most up to date in this.)

Many herbal things are linked to lowering seizures threshold. Omega 3 Is not herbal but is over the counter.

It can be a help.....

I don't know but I'm on the generic of phentek. I'm supposed to be on 300 mg but so far I'm only taking 100/day. I got a bad headache when I first started but so far I have mild side affects. Some memory problems...can't remember to take my pills...duh always running back home now and taking them a few hours late. (Never had that problem on topamax which I'm now down to less than 100 mg/day) As far as the omega 3 . I'm supposed to take them but I don't think I have since I've started the new meds. I was thinking earlier that I need to tke them, for my cholesterol etc. B vitimins are good for stress and depression but too much causes insomnia. A good B complex is best. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what you find. Crystal :)

Hi Jen,

Omega 3's and Omega 6's are good. I give them to Jake in the form of Flax Seed Oil. You can get this at a good health food store in the cooler case.

BUT - like the pp said check with the Dr first!
