Uhm... When I was only on Celexa, I could sleep forever... Now that I am switching to this Paxil stuff, I don't need sleep at all...
I am confused :D
Talk to the doctor... But I don't think 8-10 hours is too much... My Family doctor told me since you wake up at 7AM you should be going to bed no later than 11PM... Which is 8 hrs... so I think you are good to go...

When I am way down I can sleep 15-20 hours. I get up to go to the bathroom and go back to bed. I finally get up when my huband gets home and than back to sleep when he goes to bed. My doctor knows I do that but he also knows I do it so I don't have to think. He doesn't want me to sleep that much but he can't really do anything about that. I wouldn't worry about 8-10 hrs. I am manic right now and even with a sleeping pill I only sleep 5-6hrs right now.

When I'm depressed, all I want to do is sleep. I try to keep a normal schedule, but there are some days (like on weekends) when it's really hard. I'm depressed right now and everything is an ordeal, including getting out of bed. At my worst, I would leave work saying I was sick and come home and go to bed in the middle of the day. It is a horrible feeling. I used to be an energetic person and I have never recovered that since I first got sick last April.

When I'm down, which has been about 3 months now, I go to bed at 2am and I wake up every hour or else just lay there and I don't fall asleep til about 4 or 5am, and then I sleep til 2pm sometimes. That is over 10 hrs , which is too much sleep, and if I could get up 'earlier' maybe I could sleep at night. Anyway 8 hrs of sleep is just right. I take atavan and sonata before midnight with my lithobid and still can't sleep. It's weird, guess it's the depression and thinking too much. Sleeping patterns can get weird sometimes.

Hey:
Unless you need 12 hours or you cannot get up to do the things you need/want to, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Off meds (when pregnant), I needed about 8 hrs, and was fine. On meds, I need at least 8 or 9 to feel decent. Sleep needs are going to vary a little from person to person, plus you have to acount for the fact that some fo these meds are going to make you want a little more sleep.
