Does anyone know of a very good concealer that would dark circles? I've tried so many brands over the years, but most of them cake up and then the darkness comes back. Thanks in advance for any advice given.

What's causing them? If it's allergies, the concealer might be making them worse.

To be honest, I'm really not sure. I drink about 2/3 gallon of water every day, so it's not a lack of water. I've had dark circles for years, and I'm beginning to wonder if it has anything to do with the heavy menstrual cycles I use to have. Also, I suffer with thyroid trouble and there have been times when I've thought that may be my problem. I don't suffer with allergies, so that rules that out. I'm really at a loss.

Thanks for responding though.

If they're bluish then they're veins, and you can't do anything to make them go away. It's just thin, pale skin with veins showing through. That's the kind that I have. Some people say yellow concealer. I find it makes it worse, since the veins are blue, and the yellow just stands out, with the blue showing through. I heard some good things on another beauty site about cinema secrets makeup. It's a FULL coverage thing made for professionals that's supposed to be able to cover tattoos. You can get it from their site, and other sites, but you HAVE to get a really good match since it's so pigmented. I think they have a store in california, and certain beauty salons might have it, but I have no clue which ones.

Mine are actually a dark purple. Do you think things like low white and red blood counts could be contributing to the problem?

I know a lot of people who have had dark bluish/purple circles fade after using Aromaleigh's Free Radical Skin Quenching serum. In the meantime, a yellow color corrector would counteract the blue/purple - but it takes some skill to get it to look natural.

Thanks so much! I'll pick up some asap and start using it.

Hi! I don't know what causes it for you, but for me it was thin skin I inherited from my mother. The stuff I use (its the best!) is Clinique brand, either 'airbrush' or 'city' (I think that's what they're called) The one I got was in a small green case and was a creme compact. Expensive, but so worth it. If you ask at the Clinique counter and tell them what it's for, they'll point you right to it.

Thanks so much Terry. I'm planning on shopping tomorrow, so I'll pick some of that up.

It could be hereditary. I have dark circles and pretty much everyone in my family has them too. I just use covergirl invisible concealer in a shade lighter than my own skin. Then I cover it with a little loose powder. It works pretty well for me.

Does the powder not looked caked on on top of the concealer? With me, after a couple of hours, it starts bunching up under my eyes. My Mom had dark circles, but the rest of the women in the family were okay. Mine probably is hereditary.

No, it doesn't look cakey at all. That issue might depend on the brand of makeup you use or how much you apply.

I had purple circles under my eyes through most of college. Concealer just made it look worse, so I just used some frost eye shadow that was lighter than my skin and just put a tiny bit under my eyes. Worked really well. It took me a while to learn to use just a little bit, though.

Well, I have dark circles and I cover them up with Clinique Quick Corrector (concealer), then I use Clinique Superbalanced Make-up (foundation), recently I have been using Cover Girl Aqua-smooth make-up because looks more natural and the price is great...then I finish off with Clinique Blended (loose) face powder (translucent)...my dark circles don't show all day...

undefined Hi! I, too, have dark marks or circles under my eyes and have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of or lighten it up. People used to make comments about why I had a black eye(s). Sorry to say nothing worked. I even went to the dermatologist and had the spots tested under the blue light and was told it was very deep and she couldn't help me and to try make up. I had a blood test to test my liver and everything was fine. Have you consumed anything with ma-huang in it (diet pills)? I Believe I started getting the spots only after taking a product with ma-huang for a very long time. please let me know. I spent over $5000 - salons, micobrasions, peels, obaji system, excellence skin system, etc........
Do let me know if you have been taking diet pills that contained ma-huang or ephedera please

Use beige concealer sticks (the ones that look like a lipstick). Don't get the liquid ones or the ones that come in a tube. They cake up easily. Glide on the concealer stick with a thin layer. Add additional thin layers if the first layer doesn't hide it well.

Don't bother buying expensive eye creams because NONE of them help.

Hi there!

I have very, very dark circles which is a family trait (ugh!). Two nights ago I was at the mall and went to a department store that sells Bobbie Brown makeup. Just on a lark, I asked the sales associate what this line had in the way of concealers. She told me about BB's concealers and let me test them. What she and I finally decided on was to first use a "pink" concealer. (at this point I thought she was crazy - pink?). Then I used a beige-toned concealer over that and then, used the beige powder that comes with the beige concealer. I thought, yeah right, the powder's gonna cake and make me look ridiculous. Lo and behold, it's the FIRST time my dark circles disappeared! I was absolutely elated!!! And the powder did not cake; in fact, it turned invisible on my skin! The only down side to this is it was expensive. At least for my wallet. But it is definitely worth the money to me. And I really think it will last a long time which helps with paying the price. Please understand, my dark circles are really dark and this is the first thing I've tried (tried so many!) that actually works. I really was desperate so this to me is a miracle. Good luck with whatever you decide. Linda

I also like Bobbi Brown concealer & powder, but I found something that works even better for me!

And...I have fair skin, so my undereye dark circles really are dark without makeup on!

I bought Sheer Cover brand makeup, and it comes with two tones of creme concealer in a little compact. You put on the concealer, then use the (light) finishing powder over it, then the sheer cover foundation.

For the first time in my life, seriously, my dark circles don't show...and the makeup is not heavy or cakey.

I'd have to agree with Blue-eyedBelle. I've been using Aromaleigh's Free Radical Serum for a few weeks now and it has made a huge difference in my undereye circles. I don't know how it works, but it does. Mine were rather dark bluish/purple. I'm fair skinned, so they really stood out. Make up would always cake up no matter how carefully I applied it. I bought the FRS thinking that would help smooth the eye area so the make up would not creep into those tiny fine lines. I was pleasantly surprised when it also helped to reduce the circles I was trying to cover in the first place. I also bought samples of their matte eyeshadows in flaxen and oyster. The flaxen is too yellow for me, so I tone it down with oyster. A tiny bit goes a long way so there is no caking or creeping. I've been using the eyeshadow as an undereye cover for about a month now and still have about half of the samples left. You can also add another color if you are not as fair skinned. Visit their forum, there are lots a great people who can give you suggestions so you can find a perfect match.

I have dark black/blue circles under my eyes, and have had them since I was a child. My skin is very fair and the skin under my eyes is paper thin and therefore the darker color shows through.
What I have found that works is Clinique moisturizing concealor in a tube. I bought it about a year ago and it is the ONLY thing that covers flawlessly! the trick to applying the product is using a small makeup brush and then gently pat over the area. This way the circles are concealed but don't look all cakey. It is the best product!!!

Also I've had severe puffy eyes every morning and I bought Orgins 'No Puffer' 30 day solution for puffy eyes and I've been using it for 3 days now and have absolutely NO PUFFINESS!!! This stuff is amazing! I highly reccommend it! It is $19, but will last you a long time and is worth the $$$.

Best of luck to you all!
