Hi Hedy,

I have had one epidural injection. The procedure is really no big deal. You are a little groggy after and may experience some pain. I did not have any pain. I understand that sometimes you may need more than one injection. I however have not. My epidural as far as I can tell did nothing. I also have had a facet joint injection that also did nothing for the pain. I have not been offered to try again. Why?, I dont know. I have been told "well now your injuries have probably just become arthritis so there is nothing we can do". I hardly think that this is the answer, but what can I do at this time?! Well take care and dont worry you will be fine.

Hi pam!

Thank you for replying. Did they put you to sleep? Did you hurt afterward. This will be my first of 2.

It did not help you much? I ma sorry to hear that. May I ask what your diagnosis is?

Mine is :

DDD, DJD and spinal stenosis of c-spine, forminal narrowing of c5-c7. Plus the MRi showed disk bluldges in the same area,

Thanks,

hedy

The procedure itself is nothing. They lay you down on your tummy, prep the area, numb you up, you will feel some pressure when they insert the needle and the steroid but that is it. No big deal. I had no pain at all for 3 days, then I got a "steroid flare". The PM doc said that they don't see it often. It hurt like **ll for two days then I got 6 weeks of blessed relief. I wasn't groggy at all during the procedure, they don't give any anesthesia here for it. You will do just fine and hopefully get relief of pain. You do get instant relief with the Lidocaine but it wears off after a couple of hours. Don't sweat it, it really is not bad at all.

Hi there,

Thanks so much, I just spoke with my Dr. and he said that they will sedate me and give me pain meds through the iv during and afterward. I pray that this helps some.

I guess there are different ways to do those injections. I had mine while I was on my back and they did put me out. My injection sites where in the front below my ears. I was very bruised, looked like I had been choked. Of course I blamed my husband. :) The reason they are did the injections was due to a car wreck. I have bulges on C-3,4,5,6. Also have had the facet joint injection. I still have alot of muscle weakness and spasms from the shoulder blades to my jaw. I have limited movement in my neck. They say I am not a surgery canidate ( thank goodness). Basically I just want to be the way I was before. I am getting somewhat discouraged. I sorta feel that my Dr. has given up on me. I would try to go elsewhere but most Dr.'s do not take 3rd party insurance (auto insurance). So I am screwed. Just put myself on a haevier exercise program to strengthen up. What the chiro had me doing before kinda made things worse, but I have to try something. Well good luck to you!

Hi there,

Thanks for responding, my neck problems are the result of several bad car accidents thru the years but the one the hurt me the most was not very nad at all but I got hit from behind. I guess it was like the final straw that broke the camels back ( or neck so )to speak :)

The doctors office is scheduling them right now, hopfully for next week.

I hope that this will work as I do not want surgery of any kind. But I guess that I will do almost anything to get my life back.

I'll just keep posting. People have been very nice to me here. It's good to have some support.
