Hi,
I can't travel anywhere with this chemical problem. I have to take an air-cleaner and king sized sheets to put over the rugs in every hotel room that I stay at. I can't have the maid use a vacuum in the room and they can't use any cleaning products in the bathroom and no room deodorizers. It's a real pain in the neck. Has anyone every found a hotel that doesn't have rugs? This problem affects my whole life. I can only do short shopping trips in department stores because of all the fabric and particle board products. I think I need to live in a bubble. My family thinks I'm crazy but I'm sure that most of you know that this problem is not in our heads.
Hope more people start to post on this board.

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Have you ever heard of a product that produces ozone? You might want to do a search on the net. You'd plug this thing into the wall and it would produce ozone. The idea is that ozone is not a stable molecule and wants to revert to oxygen. Apparently, the process eliminates odors??? Check it out.
Also, I've had some luck with acupuncture. It ain't fun, but some of my respiratory and gastrointestinal problems have diminished (not disappeared). BTW, my family tries to be supportive, but they think I’m nuts, too!

How does MCS effect you?

Hi,
Usually my chest feels tight and I get a strange taste in my mouth and if it's perfume or petroleum products my nose gets clogged. I also get a headhache and feel dizzy.
I have also had palpatations. My worst symptoms happen when I am exposed to petroleum and formaldyhyde and perfume.

I don't get the headache, but I get similar symptoms to you, and I experience major problems with my heart rhythm when I encounter dust, or petroleum products, or carbonless paper, or blue dye, or glossy paper, or smoke, etc. I also get a strange taste, but I get the taste only when I am feeling better.
We've gotten rid of our wall to wall carpetting and use washable throwrugs. We've also gotten rid of all of our upholstered furniture.
I have made a change that has really helped me. It hasn't taken away my sensitivites, but it has improved my health.
You've probably already made these changes, but I'll mention them anyway.
I've stopped using detergents and fabric softeners, and use baking soda instead. We washed every stitch of clothing, sheets, bedding, socks, underwear, towels, etc., with baking soda only.
I brush my teeth with baking soda and water, and I use baking soda and water as a deoderant. Since I've made these changes I've felt a lot better, and I don't react as much to items that have bothered me before.
After ten days of feeling great, I've had two days of problems, which are different from what I suffered before. I don't know if it is a withdrawal problem from being off the "toxic" chemicals, or if my heart meds are now working differently now that my body is no longer being attacked by the chemicals. Right now, though, I am feeling pretty good.
Do you remember when your problems started? Mine started when I let a sinus infection go too long without treatment.
