View Full Version : OK to take Paxcil and Wellbutrin together?

Good evening, everyone. I was wondering if the drug Paxcil (which I've taken for the last 11 years) and the drug Wellbutrin/Zyban can be taken together? The reason that I ask this is because I am wanting to quit my tobacco habit and feel like the Wellbutrin/Zyban will help in this area. Additionally, is 11 years too long to be taking Paxcil or should I change over to another drug? I have an old panic disorder that I've been taking Paxcil for. Even though the panic disorder is well "under control," I still have to have the Paxcil to keep it that way. I have often wondered about it's effectiveness after 11 years of taking it. So, I really have multiple questions here. If anyone knows any of the answers, I would HIGHLY appreciate hearing them.

Thanks for all/any help,

Dave

Dave, can't answer your question, but I have one for you. I have tried several AD's and none of them seem to agree with me, I would like to try Paxil but am afraid of weight gain. Also, does it help with Social Anxiety?

I am on Paxil and it does help with social anxiety. I have had no weight gain with it.

Dave- Use of Zyban and Paxil does represent a duplication in therapy based on the fact that they both fall into the catagory of antidepressants. Absolutely check with your doctor before embarking on the Zyban. (But kudos to you for wanting to quit smoking! My sister was successful with Zyban after trying many other methods to break the habit.)

Hi,
I've been on Paxil since October and it has helped with social anxiety but only a little for my depression. My dr. just put me on Wellbutrin as well as still taking the paxil. i just started it yesterday so Ican't say how it's going yet! But it should be ok, talk to your dr. though because he/she knows what's best for you.
