Thanks to all who replied to my follow-up query. Surgery is tomorrow. I'm glad I stumbled upon this board. It's provided some great info/support. I'll try to post my experiences as well (share the fun!) when I'm not in a drug-induced stupor. My ENT is prescribing tylenol w/ codeine. I think that's the only med I'm getting. Pass the ice chips... :-)

Good luck!! Im sure you will be fine. Tylenol w/ codeine is all he is giving you. Is he not perscribling and antibiodic and steroid as well. I know 2 months ago when I had my surgery done I was perscribed a small dose of steroids to help with swelling, amoxicillian to keep chance of infection down and percocet with codeine for pain (it wasn't enough for me I also went thru a perscription of vicodin but I have a low tolerance for pain.) I don't know guess it just depends on what the doctor wants to do I guess. Keep us posted!

Thanks. I think the doc is waiting on the pathology report before prescribing an antibiotic. Said it will take about a week. Tonsils were definitely full of gunk/bacteria. All in all, surgery went well. The ENT and anaesthesiologist were great. I woke up immediately and w/o any nausea. I haven't coughed anything up but that's probably because i'm too paranoid about what I'd find! I've definitely needed the pain meds in order to swallow, so I'm taking the stuff every three hours like clockwork (i feel it bigtime when those 3 hours are up!). It's been a bit hard to sleep cuz i seem to have what feels like post-post-post nasal drip/snoring. Doc prescribed a small amount of benadryl on top of the tylenol/codeine to help with that. anybody else feel that on day/nite one?
