You always see makeup geared towards "warm" or "cool" tones. I tend to go towards the "cool" colors, as the warm ones seem to wash me out --- though according to charts, I think maybe I am a "warm" tone? I have hazel eyes (mostly gold), highlited blonde hair (naturally dark blonde) and very pale fair skin. But more pinky tones look better on me - mauve lipsticks and navy eyeliner. I also wear "jewel" tone colored clothing, as earth tones make me look dead!

Anyway -- just out of curiosity -- how many of you are warm/cool (or neutral) and what colors look best on you for makeup and clothing?

Most women are Cool . I would say at least 80% . I was taught that the only people who are true warms are red heads, They are always warm . If you have dark hair you are a cool. Most blondes are also cool. If you are a very pale blonde with freckles you may be warm . But i have heard most women are cool.

Isn't it about your undertones? If they're pink or blue you're cool, and if they're yellow then you're warm? I think I'm cool toned, but I wear whatever I feel like.

I'm a readhead, so I'm warm. If I wear cool colors, I look like a clown with my red hair. I do know another redhead who can wear cool colors though. Maybe it has to do with the shade of red.

I don't think that most people can use the "chart". And you can't go strictly by hair or eye color or skin - it's all three. Sometimes you just have to hold the color up to your face to see how it looks.

Technically, I "should" be a warm - but there are very few warm colors that I can wear well. I'm more of a cool/neutral - even though the foundation I use is a yellow base. I look best in blue-based pinks, blues, and blue-based purples. I also wear black well.

My dd is definitely a warm - one time she picked up a "cool" blue shirt to try on & I gave her a "warm" rose one, too. She didn't like the rose one at all - BUT - when she tried them on, the blue one "washed her out" and the rose one just made her glow. You can definitely tell which colors look best on you because they give you that "something extra" that you can't quite put your finger on, yet you know it's there. BTW - we bought the rose shirt. :)

The color of your eyes and hair has nothing to do with it - it's only your skin color. I was brought up with the "seasons" philosophy, though, so this warm/cool thing seems to simplistic to work.

Not that it's an issue for me personally - my skin has a distinctly green cast, and if I wear "warm" colors, I look grey and people ask me if I'm sick. I'm a definite "winter," which is what I think is what they mean by cool.

There's no way I could go by my skin color - my skin is definitely "warm", but I can't wear warm colors.

The "seasons" philosoply doesn't work for me & also not for a lot of people I know. I defy any of their category descriptions!! LOL!

I still maintain that you have to take the "entire picture" into account. But that's just my opinion, so it's not worth much. :-)
