I survived surgery # 3 on Monday. I had my titanim joint removed and the bone fused. I also had a bone graft taken from my hip. For the first 24 hours, I had more pain in the hip than I did with the foot. I was given a block for my foot before I came out of general anethesia. I have my first appointment next Tuesday. I am assuming that I will get my cast then. As of now, I am heavily bandaged. Thank you for all of the good wishes. I hope that everyone is doing well with their recoveries. I will keep you informed on my progress.

jdm-hope your recovery goes well. My toe is scheduled to be fused March 3rd. I am interested in hearing how it goes for you, so I have a better idea what to expect since I will be about three weeks behind you. I am curious, how much hardware did they use in your toe? They talk about plates, screws and wires and I know every Dr. does their own thing, but I am just curious. Was there a reason they used general anethesia on you? At this time we are leaning towards a local with IV sedaton for my procedure.

Take good care - eko

Eko,
I had general anethesia because of my bone graft. If you could do the local with sedation I would go that way. I had some difficulty this time with the anethesia. I am not sure of all of the hardware, but I believe that I have two pins. My fusion might be different because of the bone graft. I will keep you updated. I wish you the best of luck.
