View Full Version : Bone fusion

I have a question about the healing time for a fusion. My metatarsal and cunieform bones were fused due to a hypermobile joint, and it has been over 3 months now. My doctor has been extremely conservative about activity, and I am getting anxious. I am pushing it a little bit, but not sure if I am doing damage. When will I be able to run again? Most fusions I have read about here seem to involve a different joint, so I don't know if the healing time is different. Any comments out there?

I also had bone fusion both feet due to a hypermobile joint. For the bones to fuse completely takes a full year. However, the bones are fused and strong enough to support your weight after 2 mnts. You can't do high impact activities right away, I'd be cautious and wait as per your doctor's advice. I'm 19 weeks post op on right foot and 9 weeks post op on left foot. Still recovering, not planning on running any time soon. Hope this helps :-)
