I was just checking in to say that I have made it through the day without smoking when I discovered someone closed my original thread. So what's with that?

Yay Greengaroo!!!!
I guess they closed thread due to disagreements going on the past few days. They want it to stop...and so do we. :p
So are you quit now? Sounds like it to me!!! You'll do fine, you'll see.
I can't remember, but, is this your 1st time that you've quit?
DEDA :)

I can understand why they want to discourage any disagreements. What I don't understand is why sometimes when I try to access the board I get a message that my IP address has been banned. Gee, I don't think I have been here long enough to have any disagreements with anyone. :)
Well anyhow... Yes, I am quit! I'm going to do whatever it takes to stay quit. No, this isn't my first time quitting. I think it's more like the sixth time.

Greenaroo--
At the top of the index page, (the one with all the diferrent boards on it), there is a board where you can e-mail the moderators with your questions such as yours, in having problems accessing the boards or whatever. I have heard of a few people having trouble time to time getting on the boards.
That great Greenaroo that you are quit now. My best wishes to you. So if this is your 6th quit, what have you learned from your past quits/relapses? I've learned that I never worked at it hard enough, didn't take up exercise, didn't seek support, (like this board) and didn't accept that I was a non-smoker 100%. I still have a hard time thinking forever quit, but it's getting easier to consider that idea. LOL!! I'm kinda stubborn ya know!!
Anyway, glad to see you here again today and hope to see you around here more!! Do whatever you have to do to not smoke and let us know if you need help!! :)

I can't even begin to start thinking in terms of forever. For now I'm doing good to just take it a day at a time. So far, I'm hangin in, but it sure isn't easy! I wonder if it ever will be...

Yeah...good idea there greenaroo, taking it just "one day at a time". It makes it easier to think that way, that's for sure. Sometimes in the beginning I would have to think one hour at a time. Yes, it is hard the first week...you've only been quit a few days, right? After the 1st week, it will start getting much easier, I assure you. The first week is often refered to as "hell week"....hmmm..I wonder why? But just keep reminding yourself that you are gaining something wonderful in return, which will be a longer, healthier life. You won't have those little cancer sticks controlling your life anymore, it will be YOU in control!! You go girl.... :blob_fire Hang in there, it is all SO worth it!!!

Thank you, Deda for your wonderful encouragement! :bouncing: :bouncing: It's been four days now and I'm still not smoking. Mind you, it's been the longest four days I have ever known. I have no idea how I have been able to stick with this. It must be will power that I didn't know I had. :D

That's AWESOME Susan - keep it up - trust me it gets SOOOOO much easier with time. I have plenty of days that even if they said it wouldn't cause health problems, etc... and I could go back - I wouldn't want to. It just stinks soooo bad it's horrible.
Sorry been gone for a few - flew to NH this weekend to see a friend and while in the Charlotte airport I was gonna go get a quick drink, but when I went to enter the place - there whole place was a big smoke bomb and I thought I was gonna choke to death so I had to leave. Plus, I really didn't want to smell like a stale cancer stick since I don't smoke anymore - was bad enough then. LOL
I'm at 87 days and trust me it gets MUCH easier - in a few days it'll be 3 months - wow how time flies. You just have to hang in there because once you get to a month marker - I really think you won't have any worries about anything. There was a reason that you decided to quit and felt very strongly about it =- always remember those reasons at all times. Just say no :)
Keep up the great work Susan - proud of ya :bouncing:

The end of tomorrow makes it one week, but it feels a lot longer than that! This is so hard!! I have trouble seeing myself as a non-smoker. I think I still have the mindset of a smoker who simply isn't smoking.

Cool...1 week!!!!! WTG Susan. Yes, it is hard the 1st week, but hang in there it will get easier, you have just gone through thee worst part of it. I don't think it's easy for any of us, but think about it, we're giving up a looongg standing habit, something some of us did every 1/2 hour or so. We smoked after we ate, after completing a chore, project, sex, everything! Now it's gone and it's just going to take a long time to get those habit/ideas outta our heads. I feel sometimes like it's punishment for not being "good" and listening to my parents!!! hehehe  At times I tell myself, you got yourself into this mess now you gotta get yourself outta this mess. I'm doing good most days, but every now and then I think like 1/2 the day, how much I'd love one. I think in time, (maybe a long time) it will get to the point that I'll hardly think about em anymore...I hope so!!!!! And YOU WILL start seeing yourself as a non-smoker in time. I do now. Took a while, but I really do.Hang in there, the next week won't be as bad.

It's been just about two weeks since I've stopped smoking. And guess what... It's getting easier! I've taken advantage of my predisposition to be a control freak. Whenever I feel a craving I ask myself, "Who's in charge of your life, you or some tobacco company?" Heh, heh... Works everytime! :D

YEH SUSAN :bouncing: That's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one time that I love to tell people I TOLD YA SO. LOL
Keep it up - but remember - don't let your guard down either. Remain strong and knowledgeable and IN CONTROL :) as you are and you'll be fine. It gets even easier after more time goes by - you won't even think about it after awhile. Just get excited thinking about the day when that comes and it's not even a thought.
