I have felt various levels of fatigue for some 3 years now. I'm a 23 year old male, and there are certainly lifestyle things that contribute to not feeling great (diet, drinking, weird work schedule)... but in the last 5 monts, I have had spells that were more intense. I went to the doctor and he did 2 seperate blood tests, the 2nd one was much more exhaustive than the first. He basically checked for everything he could that may cause fatigue.

He then suggested I might have a depression issue, which I think there is definite validity for. I'm about to start Lexapro and see what happens.

But if the whole antidepressant approach doesn't help, what kind of doctor should I go see for fatigue? What kind of tests should I have? My doctor checked my thyroid in the blood test...is that enough? what else can this be?

Just sick of it and want more energy.

thanks

You should go back and see the same doctor...They will then carry out more blood tests to rule out any other illness and if depression doesnt exist and they find nothing else wrong then the chances are you could have CFS.

GO see a nutritionist that specializes in Chronic Fatigue. Preferrably one with a doctorate. Most docs and nutritionists know NOTHING about fatigue and the supplements that help.

There are many many many things you should be tested for. Please go back to your Dr. and get both sets of blood work(Your entitled to a copy legaly). Than let us know exactly what was tested, what6 the result was, and what the normal ranges for that test are. Than we can give you more direction as to what should be tested for.
