hello all, long time no talk. we have been pretty busy. i just had a question. do any of you have a hard time sleeping through the night from you "E" medications? gage has been waking up around 12:30 in the morning and up every half hour to an hour from there. it could be 6-7 times he is up before 6 in the AM. he keeps saying he had a night mare but im not sure he is. i dont know if he is seizing(he doent know he is having them) or its side affect from the meds(zarontin). he has been on them since november, you would think he would have adjusted to them by now. i dont know if he is going back to sleep or he is awake the whole time he is in there. i try to get back to sleep. its putting a toll on us both from lack of sleep. any insite or recommendations on this would be very helpful. have g ood day and catch you all soon.

Hello I am new.
Yes I too have trouble sleeping. I am on Topamax 50 mgs in the morning and 100 mgs at night. I was on Depakote for 11 years but my doctor took me off it because I shook really bad and I gained a lot of weight. I went on Topamax in June 100 mgs in the morning and 100 mgs at night and in the summer I had a horrible time sleeping. I would wake up 3 or 4 times at night. My mind would click on and I would do a lot of my thinking at night, I couldn't stop it. I am one where any sound will wake me up. I told my doctor and he said he had not heard of that being a side effect. He cut the medicene, which did help, but I still wake up a couple of times at night. I cannot sleep 7-8 hours straight without my sleep being interrupted.

hi! My first E medication was Dilantin, and I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I had nightmares, and i would wake up numerous times during the night. When I had the nightmares, I would be stuck between sleep and awake, and I'd also have panic attacks during the night. Now I'm on Tegretol and Keppra, and I don't have any trouble sleeping.
So it is possible that the nightmartes are from the medication.

You might try "ambeiam" (not sure of that spelling) for the sleep. It has very low effect but works very well for sleep. I am on 300 Sonegram and 200 Keppra.
