Hey everyone,
Was wondering if anyone here can tell me if they have ever: (1) Had a sinus infection and had none of the usual symptoms (i.e., facial pain, tenderness of the sinus areas, cough, sneezing, etc.), and (2), Ever had extreme neck pain occur from sinus infection? Also an increase in migraines from a sinus infection...?

I've been having extreme neck pain/stiffness/cracking for almost a year now, with headaches that have increased to daily now. I have noted 4 different types of headache by now (one is migraine). They have done neck x-rays and found nothing. Finally about a week ago, they did an MRI, and then called me to say I had a sinus infection. I was put on antibiotics (amoxicillian) and an antihistimine (otc Alavert).
I've been on the meds since Sunday, I haven't yet noticed any relief for my headaches and neck pain (assuming it was coming from the sinus infection.)

Any help guys?
It is appreciated!

Laura

Hi Laura - this is my first post on this board.

I read your post, and thought I'd reply. I have had chronic sinus problems for many years. Just awhile back, the doctor ordered x-rays of my sinuses, and they showed a sinus infection for which I was given a regime of antibiotics. The first didn't help much, so he prescribed Biaxin, which did help. However, my problems are kind of ongoing, and the xray showed a deviated septum; I'm supposed to see a specialist, but I haven't yet. (They usually suggest surgery and I'm not that wild about the idea!)

Also, I've been having the neck pain, stiffness, cracking that you describe. I was also having some shoulder pain, so they did an x-ray and it showed mild arthritis in my neck. Some days, the neck pain is worse, some better. And the same for my sinuses- at times, the bones in my face are tender and painful. I know that an infection can cause pain in teeth, jaw, and into the neck, so that may be the cause of your neck pain, but not sure. Is it for certain there's no sign of arthritis?

I do think sinus problems/infections are much more common today. Give the antibiotics a little more time; you may have to complete the regime for the full benefit of the medication. And if you're stuffy, you might need a decongestant as well.

Just my two cents worth on the subject.
Good luck!
