Hi all. Quick history. Was told 3 years ago (at 30 years old) that I have allergies. Never allergic to anything in my life. WAs also diagnosed with an underactive thyroid at the same time. I have gone back and forth between Zyrtec and Allegra since then, with Flonase. Here's the problem. They're not working anymore. I am allergic to animals, I get runny/stuffy nose, itchy, watery eyes. When I'm not around animals, the ONLY symptoms that I have are the SEVERELY, drive-you-crazy itch in my ears, throat and roof of mouth, and occassionally I wake with Post nasal drip. This seems to be worse at night and in the winter. I have virtually no symptoms in the spring and summer, and it's not near as bad during the day. My doctor looks at me like I"m crazy. I haven't seen an allergist yet, mainly because I have to drive around 2 hours to find a good one that takes my insurance. Does anyone have any advice?? What could cause my symptoms to act up when they do? ANd what might help? I'm pretty new at this. Thanks for any help.

I hate to say it, but you really do need to see an allergist. I wonder if allergy shots would help.

Sudden temperature and air pressure changes can aggravate allergies. That may be why they're worse at certain times.

I would have to agree with crossbow. You should probably go see an allergist, get tested and possible start receiving immunizations. I had shots for a couple of years and they did wonders for my allergic rhinitis. Good Luck. :)
