Hi everyone. My question is about Metatarsal Bursitis. I know that it's inflamation and swelling from the Bursa sac in between the toes, but once you get this does it ever go away? My Dr. wanted to put me in pgysical therapy (which is basically massage of the tissues and cortizone shots) and I asked him is that would take away the problem or just temp. soothe the foot. They didn't have a clue. I told him that it was pointless for me to go to PT if there wasn't any permanate fixture here. I thought what caused it was wearing bad shoes, I don't know. He doesn't know. Alls he knows is that it's just there. How frustrating is that! Does anyone know about this condition?

No idea! I would go in for a 2nd opinion though if he doesn't have a clue. Good luck!

Gosh, I would have thought that Metatarsal Bursitis was pretty common....apparently it's not. Hmmm......

Singer, did you ever get an answer for your foot problem?

Can you explain to me your symptoms? I have a pain/burning feeling in between the first and second metatarsal heads on my right foot.

Doc says it *could* be a neuroma, but could also be sesamotitis (sp).

Are you still in the process of resolving yours?

I did post another thread asking for an interpretation of my MRI results. I do know on a Neuroma, that is something that is seen on a film. It can also be felt by a doctor. My case, I have swelling on top of my foot and much around the ankle. It used to hurt to put a shoe on, however, it doesn't hurt that much, just trying to deal with the swelling. What is sesamolditis?
