I just got my wisdom teeth pulled on Wednesday  I've had a miserable last few days. Anyway, I was babysitting my friend's baby today and I tasted his babyfood (I was starving). It was really good :) It was organic bananas and blueberries. I liked it much better than yogurt or anything comparable. Do you think it is okay to eat that sometimes as a snack?

All that organic baby food is is the fruit and water. That's all. Pretty much same thing as it would be if you blended up bananas and a bit of water. Read the labels though because some brands (usually not organics) add sugar.

As long as the baby food doesn't become a staple of your diet, eating it as a snack every so often would not be a problem.

The nutritional quality of commercial baby food varies between brands, so if this is a concern for you, I would read the label and avoid those that contain added sugars and salt, as well as starchy fillers (ie. flours, modified starches) which can mask the dilution of nutrients by water. Furthermore, since many of the labels don't show the ingredient percentages, you don't have a way of knowing the actual fruit/vegetable content.

An alternative is to cook non-soft foods until tender and then use a blender/food processor to make your own baby food, freezing any extra portions. You can use, for example, bananas, pears, carrots, peas, green beans, and even some meats. This way, you get more nutrients and you save money!
