Philip 06-13-2003, 01:08 PM Hello, Has anyone heard why arthritis gets worse when it rains? Is there any explanation? Thanks, Philip Dawnrise 06-13-2003, 04:31 PM Supposedly its due to the barometric pressure. lilah 06-14-2003, 09:46 AM I find that 12-15 hours before a rain I feel it - even if it doesn't rain right here but there is a storm in the area the change in pressure can make me misrable. Sometimes I dnn't realize what it was until after! doh you would think that by now my brain would have made the connection - suddenly feel worse == weather change Lavender76 06-15-2003, 07:34 PM I have osteoarthritis and I live in OK where we have humidity a lot. My father had arthritis and back problems forever and he moved out of state to SW Texas where it is dry and he say's he never has problems anymore. When you ask the doctor if weather affects it, most will say no. But I don't agree. Does anyone else feel as I do that the more humidity the more pain? CHEEKS 06-15-2003, 08:49 PM I live in Florida and I find whenever it rains I get bad joint pain. I can tell when it is going to rain just by when the pain starts and where I get the pain. When it gets dry and the rain goes away I feel all better. Cheryl Ann 06-15-2003, 09:51 PM I have osteoarthritis and one day when I had to go to the doctor, I mentioned to him that I had felt very bad for the last 3 days. He then replied that my pain was worse because of the rain that we had been having for those 3 days. I replied that I didn't know that the weather affected arthritis, and he said yes it does. He made a believer out of me. delrae4753 06-23-2003, 10:25 PM the pain is worse during the rain. sammy wise 06-24-2003, 07:47 AM Maybe I should move - I live in England so rain is inevitable. FlowerFairy 06-24-2003, 08:59 AM I have OA as well and I can assure you that rain and humidity does affect my arthritis. Lavender, like your Father,I too moved from a humid climate to a drier one and I was immediately able to stop taking my arthritis medicine. sunshine123 06-24-2003, 12:19 PM I live in Southern California, but still have arthritis pain when the weather gets cooler. Speaking of England, we were there once in early March and all my joints hurt so bad from the cold. Sue |
