I have recently started the Synvisc shots via my arthritis clinic. I am taking a series of 3 shots each knee, one week apart, for three straight weeks. I have made it through two weeks thus far. My knees are so far in much worse shape than when I started the injections. I do have some cartilage remaining in my knees, but have torn meniscus in both knees unrepaired. I have had arthroscopic surgery on one knee. The doctor says that sometimes the shots don’t kick in until 6-8 weeks after the last injection. I would like to hear from someone who has had these shots already. Did you have terrible pain after these injections? Did it leave you in worse shape after all the series of injections were finished and the treatment was over than you were in when you first went in to have them? I (my insurance) is paying $700 a piece for shots per leg. Total of 3 each comes to $4200. Three minutes before receiving these shots I had a form pushed under my nose that I would pay if my insurance refused, after they had told me my insurance would pay. Did you have to sign a paper like this before receiving the shots? I am asking all this because I do not know anyone who has been through this that I can share experiences with. Thanks for any help.

I am from Canada. I expierenced the same thing you did about insurance. However after much fighting with my company (1 year later) they paid for it as a one time thing. The shots ended up to be a waste of time and pain. It did not help at all for me. However a friend of mine got great relief from them. So it depends on what exactly the problem is and how far it has progressed from what I have seen. To be quite honest I think it is all a new gimick. I found out the DR who gave me mine actually deals in selling the synvisc. HHHMMMM
