Hey, I was wondering if anyone has tried getting their makeup airbrushed or know anyone who has? Obviously not for everyday wear, but like for a special occasion like prom. If so how was it, did it last, was it cakey looking, etc? I know some celebrities do it.

Well, I'm guessing that since you didn't get any replies, that means no one has had it done.

I went to a baby shower the other day and a friend of mine's skin looked phenomenal. I asked what she had been doing different (not that she doesn't always look good...but this was striking!) and she told me she was using a new cosmetic line developed by the head makeup artists of the TV show "Scrubs". It's called Air Craft Cosmetics. It's used by a lot of celebs.
It's water based and specially developed to work with an airbrush. It offers the coverage of regular liquid foundation but the finish was absolutely unbelievably flawless. She said it's applied from the bottle into the airbrush onto the face.
She was dewy, glow-y like I have never seen her before!

But if you only intend to use it once in a blue moon, the cost of the "kit" is pretty expensive I think.

I had this done once for photographs. It is definitely different...I didnt know how to feel about it at first because it looked so "perfect" when I looked in the mirror...SO much different than applying foundation the regular way. It felt like I was wearing a mask. But the pictures turned out very good. I had a big acne cyst on my forehead. She just sprayed over that area closer with the airbrush and then did a couple of touchups and you could not even see it in the photos. Amazing because it was HUGE. LOL.
Overall I'd say it might be worth it to try it for a special occasion. I saw an ad in a magazine that Sally Hansen has a foundation out that comes in an aerosol can so you have the airbrush effect. I have not been able to find it in a store in my area though.
*** Just remembered...the only downfall was...several hours later after I went home, it seemed the makeup was sinking into my pores and my pores looked very large.***
