How low is too low? Thanks Sponsor zuzu8 02-15-2004, 02:30 AM HIRAM- Most of the time, low blood pressure is something to be grateful for! Hypotension only becomes a concern if it causes symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadness that interferes with your daily life. A temporary feeling of lightheadness, lets say when you stand up suddenly, might indicate a sudden drop in BP but if it's transient, it's of no concern. What are your #s now on the ARB? I'm so happy to hear you're doing well on it. Stop obsessing!!:nono: zuzu xxx hiramtraveler 02-15-2004, 12:15 PM HIRAM- Most of the time, low blood pressure is something to be grateful for! Probably too early to tell for sure (coming up on the two week mark and last week there was really nothing appreciable), but last day or so I'm getting low 100's to 120's over 68-74. Before medication I was having a hard time getting out of the 140 over 90ish range on most days-doc said it was pretty borderline but thought it better to treat it. I'm still experiencing stomach irritation but given how stressed I was about starting meds I'm not sure that the drug is causing it. Feel a little sluggish, but not sure if that isn't pyschosomatic also. I assume that it takes the body a while to get used to the new chemicals? Thanks again for your help zuzu8 02-15-2004, 12:40 PM HIRAM- Your numbers are gorgeous! Textbook perfect. As for the stomach bit, have you tried taking the meds just after you have breakfast, on a more or less full stomach? Give yourself a month or so...a) to let your body adjust to medication and b) to realize that rather than being upset about having elevated BP, you are actually doing something that is ultimately going to keep you out of trouble over the long haul! Not controlling your BP would be cause for anxiety and concern. zuzu xx zip2play 02-15-2004, 06:45 PM Hiram, If the numbers stay THAT low, consider taking half dosage of the ARB (they aren't cheap). I think control to 120/80 is just fine. wr6969 02-15-2004, 09:17 PM hiram, like zuzu said, if you're not experiencing physical symptoms such as dizziness, faintish spells, etc with your current BP, I'd be very content! :) I wish I had that kind of control over my BP (especially the diastolic!). Stop worrying - a low BP presents much much less problems than an elevated one...you don't want to be turning into a hypochondriac or a "cardiac-neurotic" :D |
