Can Arthritis really go into remission? I have OA. This is great news, and I am thrilled to hear it! Maybe there is some hope out there..... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/redface.gif)

The degeneration of tissue can be slowed but I don't believe they have found a cure for OA. It is the slow dissolution of the cartilage tissue between joints that causes the inflammation and subsequent bony buildup of those joints. There is no cure for this at this time. There are, however, several therapeutic treatments that can help in the discomfort and perhaps slow the degeneration such as NSAI's, hot and cold treatment packs and stress relief. There are other arthritic diseases, ie, Reiter's Syndrome or Reactive Arthritis, that do have remissive periods. Perhaps you were hearing about one of these. donna-virginia 06-30-2003, 02:04 PM Oh, i see. Well, thanks a lot for the info! I had a steroid shot (facet injection), which helped somewhat. My next try is going to be the radiofrequency shot, to cauterize the painful nerves. -Donna Lavender76 07-02-2003, 11:19 PM I think there's probably a cure for a lot of health issues including arthritis, but because the pharmaceutical companies are so powerful they squelch the researchers. I really have a problem with them. I started taking Arthritis Today magazine and the adds in there were from pharmaceutical companies. Very little ideas on using alternative type things. Just my opinion. |
