I am 46 and I remember my grandfather who has now long since passed having Arthritis, I now wished I paid more attention. My thumbs and left shoulder hurt like heck a lot of the time and when its going to rain and when it does rain it hurt like the dickens!!!! Nothings pain wise seems to touch the pain. I have other health issues and now it seems I am going to have to go back to my GP for this. I know you all arent doctors but I have found that you have a grat wealth of knowledge. Please help if you can.

Hi, There are many medications for arthritis pain that your doctor can prescribe for you. Regular pain medications usually do not help arthritis pain, because they do not contain any anti-inflamatory ingrediants. There are nsaids, celebrex, vioxx, and more. I am sure he will have you try the different ones until he finds something that will help your pain. Hope this helps.

Gracie,
When you go to your GP have him take an x-ray of your hands and shoulder and he will be able to tell if it is arthritis. If it happens to be arthritis I suggest to find yourself a good rumatologist(sorry about my spelling)that is a doctor who specializes in arthritis. In January 2000 I was having problems getting up from setting down and when I would try to sit down in a chair, sofa or even the toilet I would have to practally fall down, and so I went to a rumatologist and he took x-rays and the x-rays said that I had Osteoarthritis in my ankles, knees, legs, head, back, tailbone, hands and now I found out Monday afternoon after another x-ray that I now have severe degenerative arthritis in my neck. So arthritis is nothing to mess around with, so please do yourself a favor and have some x-rays taken to see if you have arthritis or not. I wish you the best of luck in what ever you find out. Keep me posted and tell me what you find out.
God Bless!

Soni Gordon,

Hmmm I see so many doctors for other things what is one more. Thank you so much for replying. I didnt know it was that easy to tell. I usually am on the Neuropathy board because of my health issues there. I dont like having to take meds because of the side effects but I think more maybe coming into my life.
Well it is going to rain again I can feel it in my thumbs and shoulders LOL I need to go...again thank you for replying it meant a lot.
