Hello there, I just signed up for this board today. I was just reading some of the posts here on t2 diabetes, I realize that now I don't have to feel so alone with this "thing". I'm one of those folks who has always been slender, pretty physically active, didn't eat an exorbitant amount of sweets and junk food--and still developed t2 about 4yrs ago. I suppose this was one of the gifts bestowed on me from my parents. Anyway, I've been kinda struggling with this diabetes--looking for some kind of support group. It can be depressing being around co-workers while they're piggin' out on pastries and whatever else they can stuff into their tummies, while I politely say repeatedly, "no thanks". I think I could really appreciate this site. I'm always wondering where are the slim diabetics? Any here? Thanks for listening..

I'm one. I am 5' 6" and weigh 118 pounds. I went to a senior fitness expo yesterday and they told me I was underweight--though I don't agree with them. I went on a low carb diet when I was diagnosed in August and lost about 20 pounds and don't seem to gain any back. I don't miss the sweets and am pretty happy with my diet. There are some pretty good low carb sweets if I crave some.
