Hi.....

I've just read several posts re: hip replacements.

First of all, I am 6 months RTHR....had minimally invasive (4 1/2 inch incision) surgery, am 55 years old, but should have had the surgery at least 5 years ago...at age 50! I have a metal and poly prosthesis,non-cemented, and was told that it should last my lifetime. I doubt that, but am hoping to get at least 20-25 years!

The difference has been amazing! I was bone-on-bone and had toughed thru the pain far too long. My left hip needs replaced, too, but I'm hoping to hold off
as long as possible....but not as long as I did with the first. The grinding pain before surgery was gone instantly. The recovery wasn't so bad....a good PT program at about 2 months post-op is crucial to strengthen and stretch muscles. I can do things now with that leg I could never even consider before!

So, for any of you who have thought about hip replacement but were hesitant for various reasons, go for it! Please feel free to e-mail me privately if you wish at libloom@yahoo.com.

A Happy Hippy,
Linda
