Hi Hope,

I was just thinking about you. How have you been doing? Is your knee pain better or worse?

I am having surgery on the 28th of this month for my knee. I hope it helps. The orthopod was very pessimistic about the outcome. He said that the chance of sucess from the SX is only a 40% chance of improvement. I think that 40% is better than no chance at all!!!

What I wanted to tell you of great importance is that I went to a neurologist, and he gave me a drug called Neurotin for the knee pain. I have not been in pain for the last 3 days!!! Well, I am taking it in conjuction with the oxycotin. It is working thank god.
I don't know about you, but my chrondomalacia felt like I was being burned with scalding water. This has been going on like I said earlier since Oct. of last year. It does have side effects though, but it is a wonderful trade off to not being in constant pain.

Wish me well on the 28th! I will let ya know how I made out too.

Your friend with chrondo,

Katie

Hi Katie:

I'm not Hope, but I couldn't help but respond.

I'm so happy to see you got rid of your pain. I'm also hoping your surgery goes well for you. Wow! It must feel fantastic to get rid of that pain and burning feeling...why you must be in 7th heaven.

Yes, your chrondo friend, indeed.

HI to both of you,

Yes, I am feeling pretty good now on this medication. Thanks for responding with the well wishes, I appreciate it.

I am having another good day, almost pain free. I have joined another internet group, well it is a Foundation that has a website for people to chat on similar to this one, but usually the same crowd of people. We all know each other now. That group has pulled me through some really rough times. It is a foundation for the Treatment of Pain. They gave me a lot of insight into the management of pain, and laws about being in pain. Like a Patients Pain Care Bill of Rights. I had no idea that there was such a thing!
And they have a lapel pin that you can wear to bring the issue of pain management up in the forefront. Kind of like the ones for Breast cancer and AIDS.
This website has been equally helpful to me while I am trying to cope with managing my pain!

Thanks again, and I hope you have a good day where your pain is managed.
Your friend,
Katie
