I had a scratchy throat on New Year's Day. I ignored it at first thinking it was caused by the club (smoke, smoke machine, etc). However, it got worse and I went to the doctor and was clinically diagnosed with bronchitis. I was given biaxin (antibiotic). I started feeling better the last week of January but then my chest started hurting. I had no congestion or coughing. There seemed to be no reason for it. I went to the doctor and they did a CBC. Everything turned out okay but my sedimentation rate was 75. The doctor pushed on my chest, which hurt, and said that I had pleurisy. He also ordered a lung x-ray. The lung x-ray came back and I was told that I had a 7mm lung nodule (on the same side that hurts). I have had repeated bouts of respiratory problems, have run a fever up to 103.8 with no explained reason, am very fatigued, have had an "elevated" sedimentation rate for as long as I can remember. The chest pain is excruciating. The doctor ordered a CAT Scan tonight to check for what he called pleural effusion and also to get a better look at the lung nodule. I am quite concerned it may be lung cancer - although I am 28 and have never smoked. My family just has a high incidence and I have lived with a smoker all of my life. I also know that I was exposed to asbestos and radon as a child. Does anyone have any ideas? I get my CAT scan results on Friday - but I am a basket case. Any reassuring information? Thank you so much!!!

Happy to receive clean bill of health. Nodules were caused from living in Ohio - exposure to pigeon poop that is in the air. You don't even have to be in close contact with them. Doc said zero chance of turning into cancer and zero reason to follow up with future x-rays. :)
