Frequent urination and thirst, past few years :( ( son even mentioned that i have to "pee" alot. IS worse during the day, will urinate before bed and then at least one other time during the night only to wake and have to go.
Dry mouth
Tonsil infection that antibotics to not take care of (6 months)
Constanly hungry, but when eat heart rate kicks in and i get flushed in the face and ears, to the point where i do not want to eat, but hungry after i eat? I get so hot when this happens like i have a fever but take the temp and its always 99 or less
toes tingle fall asleep, fingers tingle and freeze when exposed to cold temps
face tingles as well around nose and eyes and temples but this is usually
The toe thing is worse in am and at night, but can and does happen throughout the day, sitting standing or walking.
worse after i eat anything
constanly tired, have huge bags under my eyes.
Dizzyness and lightheadedness from time to time. which leads to confusion and i make people repeat themselves.
Itchy legs and groin.
These symptoms have been present for quite some time but the toes have just started recently.
Have an uncle and cousin with diabetes, but heart conditions are big in my family, father, grandparents both sides, uncles.
What does everyone think? Any comments?? Could this be something other than diabetes???
does drinking alot cause the dizzyness and lightheaded ness, which goes away after eating only to be followed by the heartrate thing.

You know we are not doctors on this board and cannot really diagnose you. Why don,t you end your worrying and go to the doc to get a simple blood test to tell you where your blood sugar levels are. If you have diabetes I,m sure some of the symptoms you describe can be related to the disease, again, end your worry and make an appointment with a doctor. Sharon

I'm not going to comment on the diabetes because there is a surefire way to know that you have it... see a doctor. Not sure why they would say you "may" need to be tested... whats the harm in just testing now?
I will comment on some of your other symptoms. Have you ever been tested for allergies? Some of the symptoms you describe sound like they could be food allergies. I have suffered from food allergies for many years... and I am not speaking of the typical tonge-swelling throat-closing type of reaction. Many food allergies can cause you to run a fever, become flushed, overheated, confused, numb, sore throat, stuffed nose, and a variety of other symptoms including mood and personality shifts. Sometimes these can come on immediately after you eat the food and other times it can be a gradual more subtle response that makes it difficult to pinpoint. Sometimes its not a single food but a combination of foods eaten together. And sometimes its not food at all, but something else you consume, like aspartame, hormones (in most poultry for example), or something else.
Its very possible that you have a combination of symptoms - some could be diabetes related while others could be something else.
I recommend that you see your doctor - find out if you are diabetic, and after you rule out that and other serious illness see an immunologist - they can conduct very detailed allergy tests that include food, but they also can test your exact responses to substances which makes it easier to address. (An allergist is much more general)

I have an appointment next wednesday, but until then was just wondering if anyone had any type of heartrate problem after eating before they found out they had diabetes.
I know that people on here are not doctors so was not looking to be diagonsed.
I am not worried i have diabetes. I either do or i dont, cant change it.
Its the heart rate and beating so hard and so fast after i eat that scares me, and is why i made the appointment.
I do have allergies, and sinus problems which will also be addressed wednesday,
Was just looking for a little more feed back and if anyone reading this post had a simialr situation.
Thank you

I don't know if it is related to anything but I have it happen. I can actually feel my heartrate change when I eat a high carb meal. I also start "hearing" my heartbeat if that makes any sense.
My thinking is that food is transferred into energy. It's our fuel. So, it is a surge feeling that I get when I get alot of fuel in a short period of time. I call it a carb surge.
Good luck at the appointment Wednesday

My daughter had a similar problem. The doctor finally hung a 24 hour heart-rate event monitor to catch these high heart rate bursts. She tried a lot of things(including a heart abation!.... and later heart meds) but hot showers, waiting a long time to eat, are the two things now that seem to stimulate this "pounding" that almost incapacitates her most recently. We never tested her for glucose level issues, and I always advocated it, but I'm just "the paranoid Dad". I had a reaction to Psuedofed(sp?) and my heart rate and blood pressure (120/80 to 150/100) went up for about 3 hours. Don't take that any more.

OMG!!! I thought I was the only person with this VERY strange symptom. I can't say that my heart is racing - in fact I can best decribe it as perhaps seeming slower but more forceful. But it pounds in my head like I can hear my pulse beating right inside my eardrums - not loud, really, but more like I am under water. And it does seem to happen more at night (after 9pm). Does this sound familiar???
For years I tried to figure out what this was. I thought I had it figured out twice, but I was wrong both times. First I thought I was allergic to aspartame because I noticed it would happen when I drank diet pop. So I stopped. But then it happened again (with no pop) and the only thing I had done differently was drink a lot of coffee (which I don't normally do) so I guessed that it was a reaction to caffein (also in the pop). But now, I get this reaction intermittantly and I cannot pinpoint what is causing it.
Could this be related to the diabetes?

YES
Thats it. It pounds so much harder after i eat. It is not from caffinee either, its from eating, and i think that the racing heart thing is because i am so worried about it. I also get flushed in the face and temp rises, and if i dont sit down and rest until its over...... half hour to two hours later, i will really get dizzy and lightheaded and ears will turn red, get real thirsty, and i feel kinda like passing out
But since this week when i have stopped freaking so much about it ( i still do freak but trying not to let it get to me) I notice that the pulse rate will go up as well to about 100 per min. Yesterday i ate nothing for breakfast and was fine until i ate in the afternoon, it started, got tried layed down, fell asleep and still awoke to the pounding heart. Makes me dizzy and light headed too. Well anyway, i started a log yesterday of everything i ate and drank and how i felt throughout the day and when i went to the bathroom. Get this i new i was going alot but 23 times in 24 hours. It seems to slow alittle after i eat for a while but then kicks back in right away and i go every 45 min instead of an hour thing. It does not matter whether i drink water or soda either. Go to the bathroom just as much. If not more with water, because after i drink water i want more, unlike soda where i can have a can and feel fine until i go to the bathroom then i want more, water...... i can drink it, drink it and feel like i did not drink it. Also why do i feel the need to drink right before i go to the bathroom as well as right after i go????
Glad im not the only one!!!!!

Your body is a strange thing. When your blood sugars get high, your body tries to rid itself of the sugar. The only way to do that is through urination. So you urinate more often but then the body doesnt want to become dehydrated so you start feeling thirsty. You crave the one thing that will eventually help you rid yourself of the sugar.
I would make sure that they do a glucose test when you go in. When my sugars are high Coke quenches the thirst only because it makes me feel ill. Once I start to feel sick, I dont want to drink anything. So it really isnt a fix.
I wish you the best of luck and please let us know how it goes
