There are some things that can be doe. Speaking from experience, I had a fracture that was missed on an x-ray. Due to this, I was never treated which has resulted in deteriation in my foot. I am home today recovering from surgery number three. I think it is worth having it checked out. jdm twobadfeet 02-18-2004, 05:02 PM I agree with jdm, a broken toe is nothing to fool around with. Years ago, a podiatrist told me I had apparently broken my little toes (both feet) several times. (I frequently went barefoot in the house, would get busy/distracted and bang my toe on a piece of furniture.) I knew I had pain, sometimes serious pain but it would always pass, and I felt like a wimp for paying attention to anything so "trivial", so I never had them checked. The upshot of all this accidental toe-banging is that I now have hammertoes on both feet--in addition to the bunions I'm now having fixed. In short, if you think you've broken a toe, know that it is not trivial and that you could develop future problems if you don't have it attended to. Just a word to the wise. twobadfeet seashell1 02-18-2004, 10:29 PM I think Ive broken my toe and I know theres nothing you can do about it but is there anyway I can lessen the pain and how long does it last for? I broke both of my little toes. I went to the Dr. the first time and he told me there is really nothing they can do. He did tell me to tape it to the next toe, that will keep it more stable. I couldn't get a shoe on for 2 weeks so I was unable to work. The last time I broke it (or at least I think I did) I taped it again and only took 1-2 days off. I also applied ice to reduce the swelling. It takes about a month or more to get it feeling more normal, but it may always give you some trouble. If this is a new break.... stay off it as much as possible, ice it, and tape it. you may also want to get a larger shoe. Oh..... I was also told by my foot Dr. WEAR SHOES AT ALL TIMES, no bare feet! |
